The Cliff Hickson family has owned and operated the Anvik River Lodge since 1996 and we have spent almost 30 years in Western Alaska.  We truly appreciate the untouched beauty and wonder of the vast wilderness found here.

CLIFF HICKSON

Cliff has fished and hunted in Alaska since the mid 1970’s and is an accomplished fly-fisherman
as well as spin caster. As with all of our guides Cliff can also sniff out the best fishing spots day
after day and is more than happy to give pointers to novice anglers. He’s a gentle soul that is
extremely capable of dealing with any hurdles that come his way while running such a remote
business. After being a remote bush resident for well over two decades, he’s got some
unbelievable stories to share.

 

CHERYL HICKSON 

Cheryl doesn’t get out on the river as much as she’d like to because she's busy at the main
lodge making sure every creature comfort is attended to. Her love of cooking is apparent in
every meal she serves. She provides down home cooking with a touch of the gourmet thrown
in. Having catered banquets of up to 400 people in the past, Cheryl prefers the cozy atmosphere
she’s created at the Anvik River Lodge. Her favorite time of the day is when she can sit down
at dinner with the guests and listen to their stories and share her tales of life in the bush.

ALYSON HICKSON

Alyson (21 yrs.) is mom's right hand back at the lodge.  Her daily baked cookies are getting more famous all the time.  She's also an accomplished fisherman and is as much at home in the woods of Alaska as she is in the malls of the city.  Alyson is a cheerful young woman and is truly a pleasure to be around.

BLAIR HICKSON

Blair (19 yrs.) is not only a great fisherman, but has taken a keen interest in bird hunting as well
as big game. He has an excellent eye for spotting camouflaged grouse. Blair enjoys telling stories
about growing up in the bush and exploring the wonders that Mother Nature has to offer each day. He has a profound respect for nature and is a hard worker and guide.
